Spring Northeast Ohio Off-Road Jamboree ready to roll June 7-9

Family fun will take center stage at the 2013 Spring Northeast Ohio Off-Road Jamboree kicking off June 7. The Lake County Off-Road Conservation Inc. (LCOR) is presenting the event from June 7-9 and there will be something there for everyone.
Hosted at Fischer’s Pine Lake Raceway & Trails in Jefferson, Ohio, more than 200 private acres of wooded trails will be open to ATVs, motorcycles, Jeeps and 4x4s. Pine Lake is one of the oldest facilities in the country and they’ve been racing ATVs since the ‘60s. There’s a track that goes throughout the woods, and water crossings, step ups and hill climbs are among the obstacles for drivers and riders.
Community Comes First
“The off-road jamborees originally came about a couple of years ago when the economy was really struggling,” said Scott Cameron, vice president of commercial programs for LCOR. “There was about an 18-month period when dirt bikes and ATVs couldn’t be sold in the youth market because of concerns over lead-based materials. It impacted us locally and we were trying to kick start the industry so we decided to do an event.”
That event has evolved into two annual jamborees – one in fall and one in the springtime. The common thread is that the LCOR tries to keep the community involved.
“Boy Scouts do power washing on the bikes and ATVs and it’s a great time for them,” said Cameron. “We get assistance from the local fire department and there’s a local vendor serving hot dogs, burgers, biscuits, and all kinds of great food.”
Something for Everyone
Fischer’s Pine Lake Raceway & Trails has a menu chock full of activities for young and old. No matter what level wheelers are or whether they want to do different disciplines, it’s all at the same facility. The Spring Jamboree is designed as a family friendly event for beginner to intermediate riders and drivers, but all skill levels are welcomed.
“There’s a TT track for extreme ATV racing and a motocross track and we’re shutting the tracks down for a couple of hours so the kids can get out there,” said Cameron.
The Bridges of Ashtabula County
Even on-roaders will find interesting events at the Jamboree.
“We’re going to do a tour of some of the covered bridges here in Northern Ohio and there are over 50 of them in the area,” said Cameron.
Ashtabula County has 17 covered bridges – the most of any county in Ohio. Any street legal vehicles, including Jeeps and 4x4s can embark on the tour of threeo to four covered bridges in the area.
The More the Merrier
The Lake County Off-Road Conservation Inc. is northeast Ohio’s largest off-road group dedicated to all motorized vehicles and recreation. Cameron said this Spring Jamboree will be the fifth the LCOR has done.
“We’ve already exceeded 200 in ticket sales for riders and drivers," he said. "People end up bringing husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, and family members to our events.”
LCOR will host a basics 4x4 class for all beginners with Jeep and full-size vehicles and afterwards attendees will have opportunities to ask instructors and more experienced off-roaders their questions. Event exhibitors and sponsors onsite include Four Wheel Parts, K3 Off-Road, TreadLightly!, and SUMMIT Racing. Vendors will display and offer 4x4 parts and accessories like Jeep tires, lift kits, and winches.
