Salty Dog Bikes

Salty Dog Bikes is owned and operated by Tommy and Blake. The two of them met at a local bike shop in Phoenix, AZ and realized that most of the bike shops today are based on profits instead of providing a business that puts the love of bicycles above everything else. Their humble approach to business is unlike any other bike shop, allowing you to get the best deal on bikes, parts, & service. Blake's wife accepted a job teaching elemetary school in Page, so Tommy and Blake decided to open the only bicycle shop in town. While the shop's physical location is managed by Blake in Page, AZ., Tommy, who lives in Phoenix, keeps the humble network alive for everyone (some bicycles can't be shipped from Page due to dealer-agreements, but they will provide a better price on anything you can find, when applicable). Combined, the two of them have over 43 years of experience riding, racing, and fixing bicycles. Together, they renovated a little building off of Lake Powell Blvd. and opened a bike shop that is truly for everyone!

Tommy is a retired police lieutenant, former project manager, & Harley Davidson motorcycle test rider. He now spends his glory years building custom bicycle wheels and racing his mountain bike around Arizona. He completed United Bicycle Institute's Mechanic and Suspension courses as well as the DT Swiss Wheel Building course. At the age of 49, he finished the Leadville 100, which is a 100-mile mountain bike race at over 10,000 ft. in elevation. He has completed numerous 24-hour mountain bike races and is a regular participant in most of the races held in Arizona. He is the original Salty Dog!

Blake is an Arizona native and University of Arizona graduate. He is a former semi-pro mountain bike racer and raced for the University of Arizona's collegiate team. He put himself through college while working at Fair Wheel Bikes (one of the most reputable bike shops on the planet). Blake has raced his mountain bike all over the country and has also completed numerous 24-hour mountain bike races. He is a master mechanic who specializes in tuning and overhauling suspension, building wheels, & custom bike builds. He is a NOLS certified Wilderness First Responder and Rescue 3 certified in White Water Rescue. He worked as a wilderness backpacking guide for many years, turning people on to the beauty of the Grand Canyon...that is, if he wasn't out riding his bike.
