Alex Trax dirt bike game

Alex Trax is an addictive bmx dirt bike game, proven to be one of skill instead of speed. As you would expect in a cross country dirt bike game, there are many stacks to overcome. The objective of the game is to collect a key and open a door within a set time limit for each level. Look out for the many hints seen on the sign posts throughout the game and have fun!

Alex TraxGame design plan from a developers point of view

Design plans are recommended to ensure game creators have a clear objective in mind before they start to code the actionscript (Adobe Flash). Shown below is an example of how to make a dirt bike game design plan if you wanted to create a game similar to Alex Trax.

Note:This is not the design plan the developer of Alex Trax used when making this dirt bike game. It's merely a reverse-engineer of a game design plan based on my experiences as a player.

Title: Alex Trax

Developers: NeoDelight

One sentence description: A cross country, neckbreaking dirtbike / BMX action game.

Scenario / World: The game scenario is set in a mountain countryside.

Mode: Single Player

Objectives: Ride your dirtbike without stacking it and find a key to unlock the exit door and proceed to the next level, before the time limit runs out.

Characters: The main character is the dirt bike rider named Alex.

Audio / visual aesthetics:

  • 3D looking in design.
  • Very colorful.
  • The main character Alex falls into pieces when he stacks the bike. He actually reminds me of Pinocchio in design. He looks to be very frail, as though he could fall apart at any time.
  • Audio can be heard on most movements. For example, there is catchy music in the introduction which changes to birds chirping once the game starts. A bell sounds for GO. A smashing sound when you stack it. There is no option to turn the sound off throughout the game.

Genre(s):

  • Action
  • Adventure
  • Driving
  • Sports
  • Platform

Possible Target Audience: Suitable for everyone.

Itemization of game elements:

  • Game is played with the keyboard.
  • Introduction page displays choices for the player to choose a terrain to play, submit their score or play more games.
  • Hints on how to play the dirt bike game are given on sign posts along the way.
  • Press ESC key to leave the level and go back to the Introduction page.

Itemization of game rules:

  • Help Alex ride his bike without stacking it.
  • Find a key on each level, then navigate Alex to the door to progress to the next area.
  • Complete each level within a set time limit.

BMX Bike Games

Alex Trax Walkthrough

Alex Trax is a great BMX bike game that is challenging enough to keep even the avid gamer playing but not so challenging that beginners can't enjoy it. The graphics are fun and more detailed than the graphics in many of the other games in the genre with the focus being placed on making the course itself look good rather than on a fancy background. There is nothing in the background that will distract you from the game play, but it isn't so boring and mundane you'll get tired of seeing it.

The great thing Alex Track offers that you won't find in the average BMX bike game is the helpful hints and suggestions you find throughout the beginning levels. This makes it much easier for a beginner to get the hang of the game although more advanced players might find them irritating. The best thing about these tips is that they are really little more than part of the background. Other games will have pop ups throughout the tutorial levels or the beginning levels, but with this game, those instructions are in the background. Beginners can take the time to read them while advanced users can just disregard them. They offer only the basic tips a beginner might need to master the game so there is no real need for someone who has more experience to take the time to check them out.

As you progress in the game, Alex Trax gets ever more challenging which is something an avid player will definitely appreciate. Beginners may find it hard to master the harder levels but with a little time and patience even beginners should be able to reach the end of the game. You can perform back flips and front flips when you get good air off of some of the ramps, but you don't actually get any bonus points. For someone who has more experience playing games in the BMX game genre, this is a fun way to make the game a little more challenging though.

Like most BMX bike games, Alex Trax is all about control. You need to stay in constant control of your bike or you will break your neck and have to start the level over from the beginning. This can be a big difficult when you are faced with a myriad of obstacles you must conquer to get to the next level, but that's what makes these games so much fun. There are sure to be parts of this game that will trip up even the seasoned BMX pro, but there are none that can't be tackled with a little patience and effort. This game is addictive in every sense of the word. When you reach the completion of one level, you want to see what the next level holds.
