2013 models of the RM-Z450 and RM-Z250
THE 2013 models of the RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 will appear in dealer showrooms from September 2012 and the two motocross bikes have had some major revamps.
The RM-Z450 engine has 13% lighter pistons and a lighter reshaped connecting rod - both these design changes enable a faster throttle response and an increases in the bottom to mid-range power.

The RM-Z250 also has lighter, reshaped pistons (3% lighter) and a shorter piston pin - all of which help increase power. The RM-Z250 also gets an all-new 5-speed transmission.

A major change for both models in 2013, is the use of Showa's Separate Function Fork (SFF), which separates the damper in the left leg from the spring housed in the right.
This division of the fork's functions allows for a lighter construction, reduced friction, improved damping and better ride control.
Spring pre-load on these forks is now adjustable and the wide range of adjustment offers owners a more precise set-up for excellent handling.
The overall shape and construction of the frame and seat rail on both models has also been changed. Bolts instead of rivets on the silencer end cap means easier muffler repacking too.
Finally, both bikes now have a self-diagnosis function incorporated into the ECM. If you buy an additional Fuel Injection indicator (sold separately) this has an engine hour-meter function that makes it much easier to stay on top of maintenance schedules.
