Dirt Bike Crash in Savage Sends One to Shock Trauma
A 22-year-old Laurel woman was seriously injured in the collision.
A nighttime collision in Savage on Wednesday sent a 22-year-old woman to shock trauma in serious condition after her dirt bike collided with a car on Knights Bridge Road.
The woman, Emily Rose Day, of Laurel, was traveling southbound on Knights Bridge Road near Stebbing Way around 10:30 p.m. as a Mitsubishi Lancer attempted to make a left turn on Stebbing Way, according to police. The Lancer struck the dirt bike, which police said is not legal to operate on public highways and did not have any lights.
Day was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, said police.
The 58-year-old driver of the car and a passenger were not injured in the incident, according to police. The driver was not charged. A preliminary investigation by police found the cause of the accident was operating an unregistered vehicle on a public highway, with no lights.
