Mountain bike festival hits trails at Duthie Hill
Staff report
The Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance has gathered more than 30 vendors for its annual all-day Evergreen Mountain Bike Festival at King County’s Duthie Hill Park.
The event will run from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday.
Participants will have the chance to test-ride bikes from 10 of the major brands; take part in races, huck competitions and a poker ride; join special kids’ events (both on and off bikes); and check out the latest mountain biking gear. Trails also will be open to ride.
Riders can join a guided ride with Platypus or Sweetlines, or take part in Novaro bike repair clinics, Freehub Pump Track mini-clinics, trials clinics and Evergreen skills clinics.
Among the competitions will be the Second Ascent Dual Slalom, Go Huck Yourself Jump Jam, REI poker ride and Freehub Pump track challenge.
In the evening, there will be live music, a beer garden, bratwursts and more.
The Duthie Hill Park has something for everyone, including six miles of cross-country bike trails, two miles of free-ride trails with jumps and built features, a central clearing with a shelter, kids’ biking area, opportunities for skill building and more. Trail users range from children and first-time riders to expert mountain bikers.
About the alliance: Known for creating Colonnade and Duthie Hill mountain bike parks, it is Washington’s largest mountain bike organization. The group focuses on trail building and maintenance, advocacy and education.
