AVID disc brakes upgrade for mountain bike, great.
Reviewed by Prue Raos rating 4.0 of 5.0

My cycling experience was marred by brakes that were giving me problems with lack of stopping power and difficult to adjust.
I ordered the AVID BB7 set after some research on the web and found a great price on Amazon.
I went for replacing both the front and back brakes to get a consistent result.
The brakes and discs arrived in good time and I fitted them the next day.

The AVID BB7 is smooth and sure in stopping power a true upgrade for a great price.
Thanks Amazon.

amazing difference

Bought these based on reputation and ratings. I was not let down. Upgraded from stock tektros on my trek marlin. Factory brakes barely stopped at all. These were fairly easy to install, I used the youtube video from avid. Adjusting these was very easy. I would recommend these to anyone. Only complaint is that they came from china in a cardboard box with no instructions…its up to you to find everything on the internet…product still deserves five stars.

Bang for your buck
Reviewed by JOOSKY rating 1.0 of 5.0

purchased theese instead of the bb5′s due to the fact both sides of the caliper have "hand" pad adjustments. If you dont already have brake mount screws for the rear you will need to get. this kit only comes with screws to connect to the mount not the frame (fronts bolt directly to your fork). Lines are not included just a heads up. will make loud noise your first few hard brakes but will quickly subside (assuming pad, rotor or both need a break in period of a few hard stops). trail ridden about 20 miles and everything feels and looks great

QBP Recalls 1,700 Salsa Disc Brake Forks

posted by Tyler Benedict - June 13, 2013 - 1pm EDT

Salsa-Fork-recall-batch-Stamp

QBP is recalling about 1,700 Salsa brand forks because they can bend above the disc brake mount.

The forks were sold separately and on the Salsa Vaya and Salsa La Cruz framesets and complete bikes from February 2011 through June 2012. The chromoly Salsa Vaya forks are orange or dark gray, and the La Cruz bicycle forks are black. Both have “CWI” stamped on the steerer tube, with a batch code just below that. Salsa Vaya forks stamped with the batch codes 2011 02 21, 2011 04 11, 2011 06 14 and 2011 09 09 and all Salsa La Cruz forks stamped with the batch codes 2011 03 01, 2011 04 08, 2011 05 30 and 2011 09 09 are affected.

Riders should immediately stop using the forks and contact Salsa for inspection and replacement/refund.

@Tyler: Is it better to contact Salsa directly or go through LBS to get to QBP?

Tyler Benedict - 06/13/13 - 3:07pm

If you bought the bike through your local bike shop, they should be happy to help. Otherwise, I’d call Salsa/QBP directly.

Pete - 06/13/13 - 3:33pm

Thanks, Tyler. I just got off the phone with one of the Salsa guys and had a great conversation but the punchline was to check the steerer tube and they’ll make arrangements to swap out the fork if needed… pretty much what you have posted here :)
