The following information was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Missing dirt bike
A Ten Rod Road resident told police on Monday, May 6, his motorcycle, a 2006 Honda dirtbike, had been taken from his yard. A neighbor told police she’d seen a man walking up the driveway of the house with the missing dirtbike but the man had walked away when she drove near. The dirbike’s owner said he would press charges if a suspect was found.
Industrial accident
A employee of Toray Plastics suffered a severe knee injury while lifting a piece of machinery Monday, May 6. According to the police report, the man and two other employees were removing a solid steel roller but the man’s knee buckled, causing him to lose his balance and fall. The fall caused a large cut in his right knee, exposing muscle and bone. He was treated by NKFD Rescue and taken to Rhode Island Hospital.
Car vandalism
An Engine Food Lane employee told police his car had been vandalized while he was in the store – the rear driver’s side window and passenger side mirror both smashed. The employee said a man had come into the store earlier, threatened him and set up a time to fight at Yorktown Park, so he thought perhaps it was that man. Police were going to watch the surveillance video.
Driveway full of nails
An employee of Hope Valley Industries on Exeter Road told police Wednesday, May 8, someone had thrown about 100 nails onto the business’s driveway sometime between 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. He said this same thing had happened numerous times before.
Stolen Scrap Metal
A North Kingstown resident told police someone had stolen scrap aluminum from the backyard of property he owns on Tower Hill Road. The man said he’d driven by the property at around 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, when he saw a truck parked in the house’s driveway (it had been rented but was currently vacant) and a man walking toward the back of the house. The NK man turned around and returned to the house to find the truck pulling out of the driveway. He noticed there was scrap metal in the truck bed. The NK man said he wasn’t interested in pressing charges, just keeping anyone from returned for more scrap. By talking to a old scrap dealer, police were able to identify the man who had been on the Tower Hill Road property. Because the NK man did not want to press charges, police only issued a warning.
Other incidents, arrests:
Police arrested Kyle Patrick Valdivia, 20, of Newcomb Road, on a District Court bench warrant after police went to his house looking for him. He was processed at the station and held for arraignment. After he was arraigned and made bail, he was released.
Police arrested William Santana, 22, of Wesleyan Avenue in Providence, at around 5:30 a.m. on two warrants after police found Santana and two other men asleep in a car in the CVS parking lot. One of the men said they were driving home from a party but he couldn’t say where the party had been, but that they’d stopped at the parking lot about 20 minutes earlier because they were tired. The driver showed no signs of impairment but routine checks on all three people in the car turned up the active warrants on Santana. He was taken into custody and later turned over to the Rhode Island State Police.
